MANILA, Philippines - Brothers Butch and Philip Brodett combined for 131 then nipped German Doria and Raul Gonzales in the countback to capture the Manila Southwoods Seniors Invitational sponsored by Brainmaster tournament at the Manila Southwoods in Carmona, Cavite recently.
The Brodetts pooled a net 64 at the Legends Course then made a 67 at the Masters to assemble a 36-hole haul of 131 in the two-man team aggregate event featuring a Southwoods senior member and his guest.
Doria and Gonzales posted the same rounds over the two courses but settled for runner-up honors in the premier Division I of the fifth staging of the event organized by the Manila Southwoods Seniors Chapter, headed by president Jose Cedo and vice president and tournament chair Paco Gonzalez.
Manolo Agojo and guest partner Vicente Marquez took the Division II crown with 130 after a sizzling 62 and a 68 to beat Mario Badillo and Roland Garcia by five. Badillo and Garcia shot a 64 and a 71 for a 135 in the event sponsored by Brainmaster and backed by hole-in-one sponsors Toyota Balintawak, Inc. and Yamaha by Kart Plaza.
No team qualified for Division 3 while Jose Cedo and Porfirio Flores strung up rounds of 69 and 76 and ran away with the Division 4 crown in the tournament supported by annual hole sponsors Brainmaster for “Senior Moments,†Romago Inc., Electro Mechanical Products, Int’l., Inc., Asia Pacific Golf Corp., Fabriduct & Metal Systems, Inc., Rudy Project Phils., Red Eagle Lending Investors Corp., Warbird Security & Investigation Agency, Inc. and Tocoms Phils.
