FEU, La Salle XIs seal title showdown

MANILA, Philippines - Far Eastern and La Salle forged a title showdown for the UAAP Season 75 women’s football crown after beating separate rivals yesterday at the close of the eliminations at the Ateneo field.

The Lady Tams leaned on Barbie Sobredo’s 18th minute strike to oust titleholder Santo Tomas, 1-0, and finish the five-team elims on top with 18 points on five wins and three draws.

The Lady Archers clinched the other finals berth as Karla Pacificador’s curler off a free kick in the 74th minute lift the team past UP, 1-0.

La Salle finished the elims with 13 points on three wins and four draws, nosing out UST (11 points) and Ateneo (11 points) for the second and last berth to the best-of-three title series.

In men’s football playoff, Jinggoy Valmayor struck in the 13th and 71st minutes as three-peat-seeking UP Maroons tripped FEU, 2-0, to clinch the remaining semifinal incentive.
