Perpetual spikers down Red Lions

MANILA, Philippines - Perpetual Help turned back San Beda, 25-19, 25-13, 21-25, 25-21, to gain the first finals berth in the men’s division of the 88th NCAA volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan City yesterday.

Edmar Sanchez and Ralph Savellano combined for 37 hits, including 30 kills, while Adam Daquer and skipper Jay dela Cruz made 14 and 11 hits, respectively, to key the Altas’ sweep of the series.

Fighting for the other championship berth are Lyceum, San Beda and Emilio Aguinaldo, which finished tied at second on 1-2 (win-loss) slates in the semis after the Pirates repulsed the Generals, 24-26, 25-23, 25-19, 17-25, 15-12.

The best-of-three finale starts tomorrow.
