2 teams dominate women’s volley
MANILA, Philippines - Escuela de Sophia of Caloocan and School of St. Anthony became the first teams to post three-win streaks in the 17-Under Developmental Division of the Best Center-organized, Milo-sponsored 17th Women’s Volleyball League at the Xavier School courts over the weekend.
Escuela de Sophia defeated Assumption Antipolo, 25-23, 25-12, in Group A, where Colegio de Sta. Rosa-Makati and PWU-JASMS also chalked up victories over their respective foes.
School of St. Anthony beat St. Peter the Apostle School, 25-16, 25-17, in Group D where Saint Pedro Poveda College and Immaculate Concepcion Academy also posted victories.
In Group B, Assumption College notched its second straight win, turning back Immaculate Heart of Mary College, 25-18, 14-25, 26-24.
St. Scholastica’s College, on the other hand, tripped St. Joseph School of Fairview, 25-19, 25-21. Child Jesus of Prague scored its first win in three games with a 25-27, 25-23, 25-14 triumph over School of the Holy Spirit.
La Salle College-Antipolo also posted its second straight win in Group C, defeating Holy Trinity Academy, 25-17, 24-26, 25-5. It was joined on top by St. Paul College-Makati, which beat St. Bridget School, 25-6, 25-12. Espiritu Santos Parochial School leveled its record to 1-1 following a 25-21, 25-22 win over St. Theresa’s College.
Winners in the 17-Under Competitive Division were (Group A) Hope Christian High School, PWU-JASMS and St. Scholastica’s Manila; while in Group B, these were Colegio San Agustin Makati (over Holy Family School and The Academy of God’s Children)and Holy Family School.
The 13-Under Developmental Division saw victories logged by Colegio San Agustin-Makati (Group C) and Assumption-Antipolo and King Solomon Christian School International in Group D.
Colegio San Agustin-Makati and St. Scholastica’s Manila registered wins in the 13-Under Competitive Division.
