MANILA, Philippines – Chieffy Caligdong came to the Green Archers United-Globe's rescue to escape a scrappy Pachanga side, 1-nil, at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium on Sunday to enter the semifinals of the Philippine Football Federation-Smart National Club Championship.
Caligdong, who transferred to Green Archers after resigning from service in the Philippine Air Force, scored the marginal goal in the extra time.
Despite Caligdong and Tating Pasilan's combination, the Archers were held scoreless throughout the 90 minutes, needing a late goal to salvage the match.
Green Archers now await the winner of the Pasargad-Gen. Trias quarterfinal match, which is ongoing, as of this posting.
