Top breeders vie in World Slasher Cup
MANILA, Philippines - Indonesian Soan Soegianto hopes to make an impact with his topnotch entries as he vies alongside three-time World Slashers champion Rey Briones of Team Spartans in the WS Cup Invitational 8-cock derby beginning Jan. 21 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Hosted by the Pintakasi of Champions with major sponsors Thunderbird, B-Meg, Sagupaan and Supremo, the blockbuster seven-day event is expected to lure more than 300 entries, including those from the US, Mexico, Central and South America.
For the first time, three separate two-cock eliminations will be held instead of the usual two to accommodate the big number of entries. The prelims are set on Jan. 21 (for the first 100 entries), Jan. 22 (for the next 100 entries) and Jan. 23 for the remaining entries.
The two-cock semis is slated Jan. 24 for those who entered on Jan. 21 and those who scored 0, 0.5 or 1 point on Jan. 22, while the second semis is set on Jan. 25 for those who joined on Jan. 23 and all those entries with scores of 1.5 or 2 points from Jan. 22.
The four-cock championship round will be held on Jan. 26.
