NCA stages world derby Tuesday

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The National Cockers Alliance holds the World Championship Derby on Jan. 15 with the leading local and US breeders tangling for top honors with their respective top-notch entries at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

The event highlights the NCA season-long derby calendar with top American gamefowl aficionados Dan Grey and Roger Roberts saying the NCA world tilt remains the toughest and most grueling in terms of participation and quality of entries.

The NCA World Championship Derby, sponsored by Sagupaan Complexor, will be launched at 12 noon today in a press conference at the Summer Palace at EDSA Shangri-La.

In order to maintain the NCA’s high standard of honesty, sportsmanship, fair play and transparency, the organization is strictly implementing a “no fight” request policy, except after compliance with the following requirements: (a) entries must come from the same owner or farm; and (b) entries must be entered under the same entry name but limited to a maximum of four entries.

In addition, no entry will submit more than two weights within the range of 1,900 to 1,950 grams in the bottom weight and 2,400 to 2,450 grams in the top weight.

Meanwhile, Lucky Money JV of Rene Medina scored five points to rule the NCA derby last Jan. 8. Ernie Austria’s Firefly 13 finished secoind with 4.5 points while the Goldquest Champions of Osang Dela Cruz, the SF Lucky Puncher Firefly 21 of Bebot Uy, and the Binangonan of Gov. Ito Ynares shared third place with four points.
