De Leon, Bernaldez top De Guzman golfest
MANILA, Philippines - Elmer de Leon bagged the overall low net crown while Jeff Bernaldez took the overall low gross title in the third Mayor Del De Guzman Golf Classic tournament at the Valley Golf and Country Club in Antipolo last Monday.
Joaquin Tolentino topped Class A while Rommel Panopio dominated the field to capture the Class B crown in the tournament, which drew 168 players.
Proceeds of the event will support the Marikina Watershed Reforestation projects of the Rotary Club of Marikina, according to overall chairman Noel Flores and co-chairman Vice Mayor Jose Fabian Cadiz.
Claro Bagalso ruled Class C, Enzo Flores topped Class D while Inez Del Rosario took the ladies crown in the event held in line with the 50th birthday celebration of Mayor Del De Guzman, who is also the current president of the Rotary Club of Marikina.
Benjie Magada flashed his familiarity with the up-and-down layout and topped the pro division while Anthony Suntay captured the Celebrities crown and Romeo Avila and Tony Andres took the seniors and super seniors plums, respectively, in the 18-hole tournament played under the Modified Blinch Callaway scoring format.
The tournament was presented by Philippine Veterans Bank and Sta. Clara International Corp. in cooperation with the Philippine Constructors Association Marivalley and the Marikina Golfers Association.
