PBA features launch TV5 documentary sports series

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Sports 5, the sports production arm of TV5, launches its first documentary sports series with AKTV Insider on Jan. 7 and 8, starting at 5:30 p.m.

AKTV Insider is the newest addition to the AKTV program line-up that takes a behind-the-scenes look into the lives of sports idols and legends on and off the playing field. For its first two episodes, the show will feature an in-depth look at the four teams that made it to the PBA Philippine Cup semifinals – Talk N Text, San Mig Coffee,  Alaska and Rain or Shine.

The premier episode on Jan. 7 features what goes on in the lives of two of the country’s greatest basketball minds – legendary  San Mig Coffee coach Tim Cone and fiery Rain or Shine mentor  Yeng Guiao.

On Jan. 8, AKTV gets an all-access look at defending Philippine Cup champions Talk N Text with its new championship-caliber coach Norman Black. Also in the program are the young and talented Alaska Aces as they prepare to fight for battle, behind first-time PBA head coach Luigi Trillo.

“This has been a phenomenal PBA season so far and the journey to the Philippine Cup finals has truly captivated the imagination of PBA fans everywhere,” Sports5 manager Vitto Lazatin said.

“With  AKTV Insider, we want to give fans a deeper look into what it really takes for a PBA team, coach and player to compete at the highest level. You’ll see a side of the PBA that you don’t normally get to see and I think it will be both entertaining and enlightening,” he added.
