ICTSI Inter-School grand finals tees off

MANILA, Philippines - One hundred sixty-eight players including standouts from the Del Monte leg return to the course today for the grand finals of the ICTSI Inter-School golf championships at the Player course of the Orchard Golf and Country Club in Dasmariñas, Cavite.

Tee-off will be in two separate batches, the first at 6:30 a.m. and the second at 12:15 p.m.

Heading the field are the team and individual champions of the four-month series organized by the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines with ICTSI as its main backer.

These are Ateneo and Aidric Chan in Midgets 1, Ateneo and Riggs Illescas in Midgets 2,  La Zobel and Bernice Ilas in Girls 2, Miya Legaspi and St. Paul’s Pasig in Girls 1,  La Salle Greenhills and Miggy Yee in Juniors and Marvin Mendoza and La Salle-Taft in seniors.

Eighteen schools are represented in the tourney also supported by Pancake House Group, Teriyaki Boy, Sizzlin’ Pepper, Golf Depot, and Philippine Airlines. Among them are Xavier, Assumption, Brent,  OB Montessori, College of St. Benilde, Southville, Miriam College, Del Monte School, Xavier Cagayan, School of the Holy Spirit and Elizabeth Seton.

The Frankie Miñoza Foundation also sent Pamela Mariano, Jelbert Gamolo, Coby Rolida, Marlon Santiago, Miggy Linaac and Sofia Chabon to compete against the Big City bets.

JGFP president Luigi Tabuena said that the grand finals is expected to be very competitive with the serious challenge coming from Del Monte bets.
