All-Pinoy main event highlights ONE FC 7

MANILA, Philippines – Filipinos Eric “The Natural” Kelly and Honorio “The Rock” Banario will dispute the  vacant ONE FC Featherweight championship in the main event of ONE FC 7: Return of Warriors card on Feb. 2 at Stadium Putra in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The fight was supposed to be scheduled for ONE FC 6: Rise of Kings last October, but was put on hold as Kelly was slated to fight in the URCC 10th anniversary card, Dekada.

Kelly (9-0, 3-0 ONE FC) is coming off a solid 2012, conquering of Korea’s Bae Young Kwon in ONE FC 4: Destiny of Warriors, stopping former UFC Lightweight Champion Jens Pulver in ONE FC 5: Pride of a Nation, and then pulling off a huge come-from-behind victory over Brad Terrey in URCC 22: Dekada.

Banario (7-1, 1-1 ONE FC), for his part, is one of the biggest prospects in Filipino MMA today. Currently the URCC Lightweight Champion and fighting out of the highly regarded Team Lakay Wushu in Baguio, Banario ended his year with a win in ONE FC 5 against fellow Filipino Andrew Benibe, a fight which he dominated from the beginning.

 Banario started making a name for himself in 2011 wherein he ran through the URCC lightweight division, winning all of his four fights via stoppages, including an impressive win over Filipino MMA mainstay Angelito “The Saint” Manguray.

With a combined 15 finishes in their 16 victories, expect nothing but fireworks from this all-Filipino main event.

Featured as the co-main event of the card is another Filipino Roy Docyogen as he’s set to face Shooto veteran and Japanese MMA mainstay Shinichi Kojima in a Flyweight title eliminator match. Docyogen, who’s set to make his ONE FC debut in this fight, is currently the URCC pinweight champion with an impressive 10-0 record, including wins over URCC Bantamweight Champion Jessie Rafols and Dennis Salazar.

Fast-rising Filipino-American stud Lowen Tynanes will try to ride on his huge win over Eduard Folayang as he’s set to take on Vuyisile Colossa of South Africa. Colossa, a Muay Thai champion will be trying to upend the young former state wrestling champion in Tynanes.

Also in the card is the quarterfinals of the Bantamweight Grand Prix between Strikeforce and KOTC veteran Ryan Diaz takes and Thanh Vu of Vietnam.
