Sta Teresa de Avila run slated Feb. 3
MANILA, Philippines - The Takbo para kay Sta. Teresa de Avila, a fun run marking the fifth centenary celebration of the first woman Doctor of Church, will be held Feb. 3, 2013 simultaneously in Quezon City and San Pablo City.
The event, featuring 3K and 5K runs, will have the theme “Takbo Mo, Dasal Ko,” which entitles registered participants to submit a request to be prayed over by the Carmelite nuns.
Sponsored by P&G with Safeguard as presentor, the fun run will be preceded by a Holy Mass at 6 a.m. at Our Lady of the Mt. Carmel Shrine Parish in New Manila in Quezon City and at the Liceo de San Pablo in Laguna.

Part of the proceeds will go to the Foundation for Carmelite Scholastics of the student-friars and the Care Fund for the elderly friars of the Order of Discalced Carmelites.
The event is organized by the National Commission for the Celebration of the Fifth Birth Centenary of Sta. Teresa de Avila (Order of Discalced Carmelites) with Rev. Fr. Dan Fauste, OCD, as chairman.
Sta. Teresa de Avila, who was born on March 28, 1515 in Avila, Spain, is known as the first woman Doctor of Church as declared by Pope Paul VI in 1970.
