The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Eight schools which make up four age categories brace for a showdown in the 25th Women’s Basketball finals on Dec. 16 at the Jacinto Tiu Competition Court at Xavier School.

Vying for the WBL championship are De La Salle Zobel and Miriam College for the 13-under category while St. James Academy and Assumption Antipolo clash in the 17-under developmental division.

De La Salle Zobel and La Salle College Antipolo will battle for the 17-under competitive crown while University of Santo Tomas and Philippine Women’s University will dispute the collegiate title.

The WBL is organized by the BEST Center, Inc., the Philippines’ premiere basketball school and the recipient of the Philippine Olympic Committee Olympism Award. Since 1987, the tournament has helped girls learn the fundamentals of the game of basketball and develop character and values such as discipline, sportsmanship, and camaraderie through their interaction with coaches, instructors, classmates, and peers.
