Faith Academy blasts UNO; SBC thumps CKSC

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Faith Academy trounced UNO High School, 64-43, while San Beda kept its unbeaten run by blasting Chiang Kai Shek College, 99-65, in the 30th Metro Manila Basketball League at the San Beda College gym over the weekend.

Nick Dalafu and TJ Hardeman provided the firepower while Neil De Cleene and Mark Lovatt shut down the lane on the defensive end as the FA Vanguards bounced back from a loss to National U.

The tourney serves as the National Capital Region qualifier for the Seaoil-NBTC Junior National Championships.

Rev Diputado and Arvin Tolentino combined for 30 points as the reigning NCAA junior champions dominated the CKSC cagers from start to finish.

In a battle between the Xavier School Team C and Faith Academy Team B, the Stallions, behind the exploits of Alrich Lam, broke open a close first half and romped to a 64-36 victory.

The Vanguards closed the gap at 27-31 behind center Toby Lim, who finished with 12 points, but were limited to nine points in the second half.

Rich Golden Montessori School bucked a late rally by Trinity University of Asia to hack out a 70-64 decision. Guard Rodel Bilar topscored for RGMS with 17 points.

In the girls’ division, UNO High School plastered Faith Academy, 48-34, sisters Alexis and Yvette Velez combining for 20 points.

Ateneo figured in a pair of squeakers as the Blue Eaglets slipped past San Sebastian College, 80-79, behind Matthew Nieto’s 19 points and Thirdy Ravena’s 22 points then edged Malayan Institute of Technology, 65-64, in the other match.
