PSC-Philta age group unwraps Dec. 17

MANILA, Philippines - The country’s leading juniors players and upcoming stars resume their chase for ranking points and honors as they vie in the third Philippine Sports Commission-Philippine Tennis Association Age-Group Tennis Championships firing off Dec. 17 at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center.

Keen competition is seen in various divisions of the Group I tournament with majority of the participants coming off a series of tournaments, including the PCA Open, Phinma International and the Philta Palawan Pawnshop regional circuit.

Registration is ongoing with deadline set at 12 noon tomorrow. Fee is pegged at P300 per category, according to the organizing Philta. For details, contact (632) 523-6415 or e-mail [email protected] or referee Ilynn Hupano at 0927-5894128.

Events on tap are the singles and doubles for boys’ and girls’ 12-, 14-, 16- and 18-and-under categories and the 10-unisex with Dunlop Fort as the official ball.

Expected to lead the six-day tournament, put up by the PSC and Philta in their continuing effort to provide competitive tournaments for the country’s junior players and at the same time discover talents who could be trained and developed to become members of the national pool are last year’s champions Eric Olivarez Jr. and Roxanne Resma (16-U), Julian Dayrit and Erika Mae Manduriao (14-U), Arthur Craig Pantino and Frances Santiago (12-U) and Michael Eala (10-unisex).
