Jackes eyes last jewel in karting TC
MANILA, Philippines - Tuason Racing School protégé Flynn Jackes seeks a successful finale to his quest for the Triple Crown as he joins the Philippine Karting delegation flying to Indonesia to vie for the titles in the last two rounds of the 2012 Asian Karting Open Championships set Dec. 15-16 at the Sentul International Racetrack.
The nine-year-old Fil-Aussie, who emerged the Mini-ROK champion in both the 2012 Coca-Cola Karting Super Series and the three-leg Mini-ROK Cup, needed the Asian Karting Mini-ROK crown to complete his Triple Crown journey for Tuason Racing-Castrol Team powered by Castrol, Bridgestone, Standard Insurance, C!Magazine, OMP, Coke Zero, Oakley, Aguila and Toptul.
If he makes it, he will not just bring back the Asian Mini-ROK crown which the Philippines last won in 2009 but Jackes will also go down in Philippine Motorsports history as the first karter to achieve a Triple Crown or a Grand Slam by winning three karting titles in three separate karting series all in one season.
But this could be the toughest battle for Flynn since the Indonesians have the homecourt advantage in these last two rounds. He currently leads point standings for the Asian Mini-ROK crown with 97 points, a precarious three-point lead over second-running Indonesian rival Keanon Santoso.
who had 94 points.
Moreover, two other Indonesians – Barichello Noor and Darryl Wenas – are just right behind with 85 and 84 points respectively and may gang up on him to spoil his title bid. ? But with his extensive training under the Tuason Racing School Race Career Management Program (TRS-RCMP), TRS Founder and President JP Tuason believes that Jackes could survive and surpass all odds and obstacles to bring home the laurels for the country.
“We saw that distinct dedication and determination from Flynn who immediately went back to training after the finale of the local series. And I don’t think that he will just let his dream for a Triple Crown go as he already invested a lot of hardwork and sacrifices in capturing his back-to-back Mini-ROK titles this season,” said Tuason.
“We told Flynn to just focus on winning the Asian Mini-ROK plum against the Indonesians as we’ll make sure that no stone will be left unturned in the preparations for his machine,” he added.
Jackes’ back-to-back Mini-ROK title feats were another feather in the cap for the TRS-RCMP which was conceptualized by JP Tuason to help young racers achieve a successful career path in motorsports and develop them into world caliber racing champions by providing them with available programs and racing avenues abroad through its partnerships in Asia, US and Europe.
