North Cotabato hosts Philta-Palawan age group netfest

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Philta-Palawan Pawnshop Regional Age- Group Championships presented by Babolat winds up its five-stage Mindanao swing with the North Cotabato leg starting today at the Kabacan Tennis Club.

A banner field is expected to vie for top honors in various divisions in the four-day tournament, including the boys and girls’ 18-, 16-, 14-, 12-and-under and 10 unisex classes.

“We expect a huge field to play, this being a rare Philta tournament to be held here. We are thankful to Palawan Pawnshop and Babolat for sponsoring this nationwide circuit for the youth,” said North Cotabato official

The event comes on the heels of Philta’s successful staging of the Mindanao circuit’s fourth leg in Sultan Kudarat last week with Bobby Castro, COO of Palawan Pawnshop, and Guillermo Nocom, president of Technosports, exclusive distributor of Babolat, reiterating their continued support to Philta’s worthwhile program.

“We are one with Philta in its effort to develop the sport and provide tournaments for the young tennis players in the region,” said Castro.

For his part, Nocom said he believes a lot of talented players remain untapped, especially in the countryside and by putting up tournaments like this will help Philta in its continuing search for talents who could be trained and developed to become members of future national teams.

Registration is ongoing. For details, text or call tournament in-charge Bobby Mangunay at 0195-4046464 or email [email protected].
