Globe, Philex back NGAP North Luzon regional golf
MANILA, Philippines - The Globe Business Amateur Golf Circuit resumes Dec. 15-16 with the Philex Northern Luzon Regional Championships with the top mining corporation coming in as chief backer of the event at the Baguio Golf and Country Club in Baguio City.
Reigning Philippine Amateur Closed champion JikJik Abdon and Hong Kong Ladies Amateur Open titlist Cyna Rodriguez are expected to lead the field along with current national team players Justin Quiban, JR Gonzales and Cebu-based LJ Go, leading jungolfers Gabriel Manotoc, JP De Claro, Bianca Pagdanganan and Daniella Uy and top players from the region.
“We are grateful to BGCC for giving us their course on a weekend and we are fortunate that we have this opportunity, through this tournament, to share in giving tribute and honor to the birth centenary of BGCC Founder Nanoy Ilusorio,” said National Golf Association of the Phils. president Tommy Manotoc.
Premium will be on stamina and mental toughness with the field in the men’s division set to play 36 holes at the short but tricky up-and-down layout in the first day of the two-day event organized and conducted by the NGAP in cooperation with BGCC.
The Mid-Amateur (age 30-54), Seniors and Women divisions are set over 36 holes over two days.

Also lined up before the year ends is the second NGAP Meralco National Doubles Amateur (Closed) Championship slated Dec. 26-28 at Wack Wack’s West Course.
Deadline is on Dec. 21 at 5 p.m.
Meanwhile, the NGAP will kick off next year’s series of tournaments with the Philippine Amateur Open set Jan. 7-10, also at the fabled Wack Wack layout.
