The Philippine Star

WROCLAW, Poland – Bowler Krizziah Tabora’s bid for World Cup honors ended Friday when she failed to make it to the quarterfinals of the 48th Qubica/AMF BWC international finals at the SkyBowling Centre here.

Tabora, winner of the Philippine championship, was 14th among 69 with a 28-game total of 5911 pinfalls for a 211.64 average.

“I gave it my best shot, but the field was simply tough,” said Tabora after the eight-game series among 24 survivors.

But it was a decent finish for the national bowler, who gamely battled through the 20-game eliminations to advance to the top 24.

The other Filipino participant in the prestigious individual kegfest –Busan Asian Games gold medalist RJ Bautista – failed to survive the 20-game eliminations, finishing in a 31st-place tie with Saudi Arabia’s Mohammed H. Alnajrani.

Singapore’s Shayna Ng continued to dominate the women’s competition by scoring 6491 pins in 28 games for a fiery 231.82 average.

But two other bowlers - England’s Kirsten Penny and two-time champion Aumi Guerra of the Dominican Republic - stayed close behind with 6463 and 6442 pins, respectively.
