Villanueva, Paras top E’Ridge’s Fore By Four
MANILA, Philippines - Ramil Villanueva and Arnel Paras combined for 163 points to emerge Class A champion in the Fore By Four Invitational, the member-guest golf tournament of the Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club in Gen. Trias, Cavite.
After teaming up to win the lower divisions in the previous editions, Villanueva and Paras finally triumphed in the centerpiece event with rounds of 80 and 83 at the Faldo and Dye courses to beat the pairs of Oh Jae-sik and Kang Sung-ho 161 (80-81-161) and Oscar Patricio and Ed Abesamis (79-78-157) in Class A.
The winning pair in Class B was Raymundo del Rosario and Gerry Sy after a 163 (84 at the Aoki and 79 at the Faldo). Antonio del Rosario Jr. and Romeo Francisco were runners-up with 159 (78-81). Two points down at 157 (81-76) were Manolo Antonil and Mike Campos.
Koji Uetani and Cresencio Pascual toured the Norman and Dye courses with 81 and 79, respectively, for a 160 as winners of Class C. They squeaked past the Roy Sausa-Lindsay Salilig duo who strung up 80 and 78 for 158. Eduardo Malasaga and Ruel Pili narrowly missed tying the runners-up with 157 (82-75).
The Class D plum was collared by Alex Sulit and Manuel Zosa with their 154 (72 at Aoki and 82 at Faldo) as they routed Alberto Go and Nestor 146 (74-72) and Rizaldo Roxas and Elmer Geconcillo 143 (67-76).
Koreans expats also had their share of glory as Cho Han-pyo and and Kim Dong-hee put together 75 points in modified Stableford format at Norman then added 82 at Dye for 157 to win in the member-member division. Joining them at the podium were Kim In-Jae and Lee Man-jae who assembled 276 (142-134) for the guest-guest title.
The third Korean pair of Lee Jong-chan and Lee Hyun-tae did not win in the tournament proper, participated in by 400 amateurs, but each became a recipient of a brand new Toyota Vios raffled off at the awarding ceremony of the two-day event.
In the distaff side, Jang Eun-sil, the women’s titlist in the recently concluded National Tournament of Club Champions (NTCC) also at Eagle Ridge, partnered with Kim Hee-sun on their way to the top with 71 and 83 in two days for an aggregate of 154. Eden Hernandez and Leoncie Tinio were next with 147 (73-74).
Joel Panganiban and Rey Aranda were sponsors division champs with an 88.
