Canlas bags PCA Open 18-U crown

MANILA, Philippines - Calvin Canlas pulled off a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Joshua Cano to capture the boys’ 18-under singles crown in the PCA (Philippine Columbian Association) Open at the PCA courts in Paco, Maznila recently.

Canlas, a 17-year-old senior at Ateneo and backed by Babolat, used a variety of shots to overwhelm Cano and pocket the crown in the Group I Category event.

The victory came on the heels of his runner-up finish in the 18-U singles in the Babolat tennis tournament in Subic where Canlas, handled by coach Gee Abacan, also finished second in the doubles category.
