MANILA, Philippines - The POC elections committee will decide today whether athletics chief Go Teng Kok is eligible to run for president of the Philippine Olympic Committee on Nov. 30.
Ricky Palou, a member of the three-man elections committee, is hoping that the issue on whether GTK can run or not is settled with finality today.
“We will discuss the merits of all the letters and court decisions regarding the matter. Then we have to decide if he is a qualified candidate,” said Palou.
Yesterday, a letter signed by GTK’s counsel, Nicanor Sering, stressed the fact that GTK, by virtue of a decision by the Regional Trial Court of Pasig, remains a legitimate member of the POC, and is therefore qualified to challenge incumbent POC chief Jose Cojuangco Jr. in the coming elections.
