Japeth Aguilar still in hunt for NBA D-League team's roster spot

Dino Maragay - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Japeth Aguilar on Wednesday dispelled rumors that he got cut by the Sta. Cruz Warriors, the Golden State Warriors’ NBA Development League affiliate team which drafted him this year.

This came as the 6-foot-9 Filipino prospect's name was not included in a Sta. Cruz Warriors roster list released by the NBA D-League.

The NBA D-League posted on its official website the Sta. Cruz Warriors’ 10-man roster for the 2012-2013 season, and Aguilar’s name was nowhere to be found. A time stamp on the page says it was created at 5:45 a.m. on Nov. 20 US time.

Reports, however, claim it was last season's lineup for the Dakota Wizards – which was bought by Golden State – and therefore not updated.

In an overseas interview, Aguilar told philstar.com he’s not yet aware that such roster has been released and whether it is already final.

“I don’t know yet,” Aguilar calmly told philstar.com on whether he indeed got cut by the Warriors.

Ang alam ko, one week pa (before I know if I’ll make the team),” he added.

The Filipino prospect had previously survived two cuts made by the team and was reported to have a good chance of making the squad’s final 10-man roster.
