Tsui finishes karting season third overall

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Christopher Joseph “CJ” Tsui of Formula-E Racing Management turned in four major finishes in the 2012 Coca-Cola karting season and ended up third overall in the Karter of the Year derby.

The 17-year-old De La Salle Zobel senior churned out impressive performances in both the Coca-Cola Karting Super Series and the Coca-Cola KF2-KF3 Cup Series through the support of his sponsor Asia Overseas Transport Co. Inc.

He actually finished in a three-way tie at the end of the campaign but lost in the countback, settling for third with one victory.

Tsui also finished second in the ROK Senior after tallying 276 points and wound up third in the ROK Overall with 367.5 points in the Coca-Cola Karting Super Series.

He also ended up second in the KF2 and Coca-Cola KF2-KF3 Cup Series.

From being last year’s ROK Novice first runner-up, Tsui joined the ROK Senior division where he held his ground against more experienced rivals and secured his spot among the top three ace karters at the start of the season.

“CJ has the talent, and it’s a matter of giving him proper guidance in his career. Since he moved under my fold, he learned to listen and get focused, know more about his kart through the tests I gave him and ultimately fortified his racing judgment when to push his limits or make the timely maneuvers,” said coach and race engineer Elson Carpio.

“We’re proud to say that it has been a banner year for CJ considering it was just his first year as a ROK Senior karter compared to his rivals who had been competing in the said division for the past two or more years. And who knows, it will be his time to be the Karter of the Year next season,” he added.
