Sta. Lucia East mauls Jekasa

MANILA, Philippines - Sta. Lucia East Grand Mall trounced Jekasa Sportswear, 108-95, to seize the solo lead in Group A while Skyforce gained a share of second with a 105-98 victory over During’s BBQ in the second DELeague Open Invitational Basketball Cup at the Marikina Sports Park gym Thursday night.

Ex-PBA cager Chris Calaguio scored 31 points as the defending champion Sta. Lucia East posted its fourth win in five games for the Group A lead.

Sta. Lucia goes for a sweep of the elims and an automatic semifinal berth against During’s BBQ tomorrow.

Jonathan Aldave, also an ex-pro, scored 22 points and had seven rebounds to power Skyforce to its third win in four games for a share of second with Steel Trust Corp.

According to the DELeague commissioner Sonny Manucat III, only the top two teams from each group will advance to the semis of the league organized by Marikina Mayor Del De Guzman and sponsored by PCA-Marivalley, OLOPS College, Jekasa Sportswear, Hobe Bihon, Mckie’s Video, Simply Delicious, and Luyong Panciteria.

Meanwhile, action resumes tonight with Steel Trust Corp. taking on Jekasa Sportswear at 7 p.m. and Hobe Bihon and Arquitectos Construction tangling at 8:30 p.m. 

Tickets are pegged at P10 each.

Tickets are available at the Marikina Sports Park Gymnasium’s entrance at only P10 each.
