MANILA, Philippines - Arquitectos Construction and During’s BBQ snapped out of three-game skids by beating Power Networks, 95-81, and Globe Telecoms, 98-89, respectively, in the second DELeague Open Invitational Basketball Cup at the Marikina Sports Park gym in Marikina City last Tuesday.
Lou Gatumbato scored 24 points and finished with five rebounds and six assists while Jack Corpus backed him up with 23 markers as Arquitectos Construction posted their first win in four games.
Mel Mabigat churned out a double-double effort of 31 points and 10 rebounds but failed to draw solid support as Power Networks absorbed their third straight defeat in Group B.
During’s BBQ matched Arquitectos’ feat later in the night as it leaned on Edwin Asoro’s 16 points and 10 rebounds to trounce Globe Telecoms, which slid to 1-5 in Group A.
Raymond Aguilar scored 26 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for Globe Telecoms, which bowed out of the semis race in the event organized by Marikina Mayor Del De Guzman and sponsored by PCA-MARIVALLEY, OLOPS College, Jekasa Sportswear, Hobe Bihon, Mckie’s Video, Simply Delicious, and LUYONG Panciteria.
Meanwhile, defending champion Sta. Lucia East Grand Mall and Jekasa Sportswear clash at resumption of action tonight with Skyforce taking on During’s BBQ in the other game.
