MANILA, Philippines - Carl Lim of San Juan Bowling Association and MTBA’s Bea Santarin ruled the Youth Masters finals in the 41st PBC-PSC-POC Open championships at the SM Center lanes in Mall of Asia, Pasay City last Sunday.
Enzo Hernandez, 16, shared the spotlight by grabbing the Class O all-events lead.
TBAM-Prima’s Hernandez, silver medalist in the 2012 Bevida-Storm International Masters Challenge and the Asian Youth boys’ doubles event, collected 2132 on his 609 and 639 cards in singles, 420 in doubles and 464 in trios to finish ahead of teammates Kenneth Chua (2091) and Richie Poblete (2088).
Lim posted 1489 in eight games to subdue TBAM’s Miguel Ocampo (1470) and PBAP-Bowlmart’s Kevin Cu (1449) in the boys’ division, while Santarin carded 1459 to outsteady TBAM-Prima’s Gia Oyco (1420) and QCBA-Eagle Ridge’s Andrea Laureano (1415) in the girls’ bracket.
PBAP-Bowlmart’s Mades Arles surprised the Class O ladies’ all-events by wresting the lead with 2146 (607-638 in singles, 450 in doubles and 451 in trios). TBAM-Prima’s Rachelle Leon checked in second with 2084 while Poland-bound World Cupper Krizziah Tabora came in third with 2037.
TBAM-Prima’s Bea Hernandez showed the way in the ladies’ Associate Masters event of the two-week kegfest sponsored by PSC, POC, Boysen, PCSO, Team Prima, F.R. Sevilla Construction, HCG and Enervon.
The tournament, organized by the PBC led by its president and overall chair Ernesto “Toti” Lopa, deputy overall chairperson Girlie Solis and ways and means committee head architect Nepthy del Rosario, has been limited to local bowlers in a bid to develop new faces with great potentials.
TBAM-Prima and the Philippine team moved ahead in the Class O trios’ event.
TBAM-Prima’s Richie Poblete, Jonas Baltasar and Enzo Hernandez submitted 1413 to pull away from another TBAM-Prima squad (1311) and the PH team (1297) in the men’s group, while the PH ladies’ team of Liza del Rosario, Krizziah Tabora and Rachelle Leon combined for 1312 to pace PBAP-Bowlmart (1230) and TBAM-Prima (1132).
