MANILA, Philippines - Thailand showed too much firepower against the Philippines, hacking out a 6-1 rout that shut the door on the host’s bid in the qualifiers for the AFC U-16 Women’s Championship 2013 Friday night at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium.

It was the second loss in as many games for the Pinay booters, following a 1-2 defeat at the hands of Myanmar in the opener of the Group C qualifiers, kissing their hopes goodbye with still one match left in the four-nation meet.

“We were outgunned, outrun by a Thailand team that had its best finish so far against our team,” said Phl U-16 head trainer Bob Manlulo, whose side will try to end the tourney on a good note with a decent showing tonight against finals-bound Australia (six points).
