Top karters vie in vital Coke Series legs

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The country’s best karters settle unfinished business in the last two legs of  the ROK races 2012 Coca-Cola Karting Super Series this weekend at the Carmona racetrack.

Top contenders in the ROK Clubman, ROK Juniors, ROK Seniors and ROK overall gun for crucial wins in Round 7 tomorrow and Round 8 on Nov. 11.

The last two legs will determine the recipients of this year’s Karter-of-the-Year and Junior-Karter-of-the-Year awards.

The Karter of the Year and Junior Karter of the Year will be based on the final cumulative rankings for the ROK Senior/ROK Junior after dropping two of his worse performances in the Super Series and the KF2/ KF3 class where all rounds will be counted.

Fern-C Racing brothers Milo and Estefano Rivera already have the edge after  capturing the KF2 and KF3 titles, respectively.

But Milo Rivera faces tough chances for the Karter of the Year plum up against VJ Suba of Eagle Cement, CJ Tsui of Formula-E Racing who currently hold the top two spots in the ROK Senior class.

Suba leads the race for the ROK Senior crown with 389 points while Tsui is second overall with 334.  Milo Rivera, who’s on a winning streak after winning the last race at Clark and clinching the KF2 title, is behind in third with 304.

With 125 points at stake for the last two races, Rivera has to sweep all races, particularly in Round 8 where points will be multiplied by 1.5, to secure the plum.

The event is sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines and sponsored by Coca-Cola, Yokohama Tires, Motorstar and Aeromed.
