MacDonald emerges TRS Cup champ

MANILA, Philippines - Sean Redpath of the Philippine Volcanoes dominated the last two races but Stuart MacDonald held on to capture the overall crown in the 2012 TRS Cup at the Batangas Racing Circuit in Batangas recently.

Redpath bounced back from a penalty-marred Race 7 stint with victories in Races 8 and 9, beating MacDonald and Alvin Ng.

But Redpath fell short of his title bid as MacDonald went on to bag the 2012 TRS Cup expert title with 114 points. Redpath settled for second with 112 points in the event backed by Castrol, Bridgestone, Standard Insurance, Coke Zero, OMP, AAP, Ford Alabang, Emotions, Speedlab, Aguila Auto Glass, Lifeline Ambulance, PLDT Fibr, C! Magazine, Kotse.com, HasTRavel, Stoplight TV and Business World.

In Race 7, Redpath and Ng finished tied for first but Redpath was slapped with a penalty due to an infraction, giving Ng the outright victory with McDonald as the runner-up. Redpath ended up third.

Jussi Hoikka likewise bounced back with big wins in the final two races to secure the Novice crown with 129 points with Yvana Carangan clinching the overall runner-up. Karting champ Basti Escalante  finished third overall.
