Ateneo, HCC top Minda elims

MANILA, Philippines - Ateneo de Davao University and Holy Child College of Davao defeated separate rivals in the fi nals to rule the Mindanao regional championship of the MILOsponsored 2012 BEST (Basketball Effi ciency Scientifi c Training) Center Small Basketeers of the Philippines- Passerelle twin tournament held over the weekend at the Goldstar Gym in Davao City. The winning teams will also represent Mindanao in the SBPPasserelle national fi nals on Dec. 2 in Roxas City. They will be joined by the NCR champions La Salle Greenhills. Ateneo outplayed Corpus Christi School of Cagayan de Oro City, 64-59, to claim the SBP crown and Holy Child defeated Claret School of Zamboanga City, 64-53, to top the Passerelle division. Lawrence Angeles scored 11 of his team-high 13 points in the fi rst quarter to lead Ateneo to an early 20-5 lead in the SBP tournament for 9-11 years old.
