NCR dethrones Visayas in Milo Li’l Olympics
MANILA, Philippines - Team NCR ended Team Visayas’ three-year reign as it dominated the Milo Little Olympics national finals before a big crowd at the Marikina Sports Complex in Marikina City recently.
The Big City bets stamped their class in various sports and finished with an overall score of 614 points.
Team Visayas settled for 575 points, while Mindanao and Luzon placed third (383.5 points) and fourth (357.5 points), respectively. The NCR athletes and coaches later said their victory will spark a new streak for the Big City bets who will be out to beat Team Visayas’ three-peat.
The NCR and Visayas bets slugged it out in individual sports in the elementary division, including athletics, gymnastics, table tennis and swimming.
NCR’s elementary squad pooled an impressive 294 points to their overall success. Team Visayas assembled 283 points while Mindanao placed third with 212.5 points and Luzon in fourth with 175.5 points.
In the secondary division, NCR struck hard in athletics, sepak takraw, gymnastics, swimming and volleyball.
NCR also shone in team sports, raking up a total of 320 points, while Team Visayas settled for second in this year’s secondary division games with 292 points. Team Luzon was a distant third with 182 points, while Team Mindanao ranked fourth with 171 points.
