St. James outlasts Assumption in WBL

MANILA, Philippines - St. James Academy swamped Assumption College-Antipolo, 40-27, to post its third straight victory for the Group B lead in the 17-Under Division of the 25th Women’s Basketball League.

It was a sorry loss for Assumption, which fell to 2-1 (win-loss) and missed taking the lead in the league sponsored by Milo and organized by the longest running BEST Center (Basketball Efficiency and Scientific Training).

School of St. Anthony bounced back from a loss with a 26-13 win over Child Jesus of Prague School, while Miriam College thumped Philippine Women’s University, 41-15. SAS and PWU now have 1-1 records in Group B.

Matches in the 17-Under Competitive Division saw (Group A) De la Salle-Zobel beat St. Paul-Pasig, 52-21; and La Salle College-Antipolo defeat Angelicum, 62-40; (Group B) Assumption down Montessori Integrated School, 59-36, and Miriam College clobber St. Pedro Poveda College, 35-23.

The 13-Under Category saw Chiang Kai Schek College trounce Miriam-B, 32-23, and Miriam-A rout Assumption-Antipolo, 41-15.

In the 25-Under Division, (Group A) University of the Philippines got past Don Bosco Technical School, 62-53; (Group B) PWU smothered St. Scholastica’s College, 61-47; and University of Santo Tomas dominated Assumption, 67-18.
