Hong ends up 3rd; Que rallies with 64
MANILA, Philippines - Charles Hong shot a three-under 69 but fell short of his title bid as he settled for third in the PGM Sarawak Masters ruled by Malaysian Kenneth de Silva at the Sarawak Golf Club in Malaysia yesterday.
Hong, who led the halfway stage with 71 and 69 but reeled back with a 76 Saturday, finished with a 285, three strokes behind Silva, who rallied with a seven-under 65 to snatch the crown with a 283. He won by one over Englishman Peter Richardson, who totaled 284 after a 67.
Jhonnel Ababa carded a 74 and slid to joint ninth at 290 while Mhark Fernando made a 70 for a share of 12th at 291 with James Ryan Lam, who also had a 70.
In South Korea, Angelo Que went on a birdie-binge at the front, including five straight from No. 4, and went on to shoot an seven-under 64 and finish in joint 20th in the CJ Invitational won by host KJ Choi.
