MANILA, Philippines - Breed Dog Shows Sunday at the People’s Village of Tiendesitas in Pasig.
The event, which starts at 1 p.m., features three homegrown judges Joseph Ong Chuan, Mike Buenaflor and Jester Jo Ong Chuan.
Ong returns to the local judging scene after an absence of two years. For almost five decades, he was active breeding and exhibiting various champion dogs. Founder of the American Cocker Spaniel Club of the Philippines (ACSCP) in 1992 where he served as president and chairman, Joseph is the past chairman and head of the judges and licensing development committee of AKCUPI and has international judging licenses from AKCUPI, Kennel Club Union of Asia and Federacion Canina Internacional based in Spain.
Buenaflor, who has been involved in the canine world for the more than two decades, was past president of the Iloilo Kennel Club, director of the German Shepherd Dog Federation of the Philippines and a licensed ring steward for both all-breed and sieger landesgruppen shows. He is also a volunteer for the Animal Kingdom Foundation and was trained by the International Fund for Animal Welfare as a dog rescuer.
Chuan, who started with dogs at an early age, has bred St Bernards, Shih-Tzus, Collies and German Shepherds, and is noted for breeding American Cocker Spaniel in the Philippines.
