MANILA, Philippines - The 21st Architects’ Golf Classic invitational tournament will be held Nov. 19 with the country’s leading golfing architects heading the big field at the Sta. Elena Golf Club in Laguna.
Organizers of the annual event said 250 players and partners from the architecture and construction industries will be competing for the top honors in various divisions of the event presented by Boysen Paints.
Started in 1991, the Architects’ Golf Classic was put up to foster friendship and camaraderie among practitioners with the upcoming event also staged to raise funds for the San Juan Nepomuceno School and REACH Foundation Inc. (Rehabilitation and Empowerment Adults and Children with Handicap).
The Peoria scoring system will be used where six holes – two par-3s, two par-4s and two par-5s; and often one of each type per nine (one par 3 on the front, the other on the back nine) – are secretly selected by the committee as special holes. Competitors do not know which holes have been selected.
The 21st Architects’ Golf Classic is led by overall chairman Carmelo Casas and president Abelardo Tolentino Jr. Other members of the committee are Alan Michael Cruz, head of ways and means, Gene Arthur Go of operations and Vicente Benito Jr. as the tournament chairman.
Other backers of the event are Kohler Co., Kuysen Enterprises, Wilcon Depot, Antro/CLC, CWC Group, EEI Corporation, Emerald Vinyl Corp., Julant Pest Control Systems, Tradetek, Arkisource, Arlo Aluminum, Bostik, Bradnams, Crown Pipes, DDT Konstruct, Famcor Glass Works, Fumaco, GT Stoneworks, Jardine Schindler, JME Supreme, Net Pacific, Roofloor, Teresa Marble, DMCI Homes, Envirotek, Manila Ocean Park, RM Cabanela Construction, Romtech Construction Inc., and Skydragon Construction.
