Highlanders frolic at home, rule WGAP leg

MANILA, Philippines - Tagaytay Highlands proved no gracious hosts to the WGAP field as it swept two division titles while finishing third in the other in the penultimate leg of the 2012 Champion Infinity WGAP Circuit presented by Pacsports at Tagaytay Midlands recently.

Rosalie Heo fired 39 points, Hedy See and Bern Wong added a pair of 36 while Sandy Prieto-Romualdez scored 35 points under the Modified Stableford scoring system for the Highlands, which pooled a 146 and beat Camp Aguinaldo by 12 for the Class A crown.

Other members of the host club in the 10-to-play, four-to-count format event, organized by Women’s Golf Association of the Philippines, were Olive Yoon, Rebecca Albert, Nini Eustaquio, Maline Flores, Gie Bote and Veronica Veloso.

Aguinaldo assembled a 134 as Matet Salivio shot a 39 and took the individual crown while Mabel Salivio, Marie Guerrero and Josie Untal added 34, 32 and 29 points, respectively, while Sta. Elena, led by Careth Ricamonte’s 33 points, placed third with a 128.

Forest Hills and Orchard turned in identical 126s while Alabang had a 125 in the tournament event sponsored by Champion Infinity and Pacsports.

Tagaytay Highlands also stamped its class in Class B, scoring a 152 for an 18-point romp over Villamor, which had a 134, while Camp Aguinaldo came in third with a 132 followed by Sta. Elena (119), Alabang (117), Forest Hills (113) and Orchard (95).

Eun Sun Lee led the hosts’ charge with 42 points while Kyung Hee, Maripaz Domingo and Marlene Varua backed her up with 40, 36 and 34 points, respectively. Aguinaldo’s Anita Salivio, however, copped the individual title with 40 points.

Camp Aguinaldo, meanwhile, snatched the Class C diadem with a 126, edging Alabang, which made a 123 and nipped Tagaytay Highlands in the countback for runner-up honors.

Lanie Marasigan scored 35 points while Ruby Hamis shot a 33 and Babie Lagura and Cathy Ferrer added 29 points apiece for Aguinaldo while Greely Oposa, Arlene Barclay, Renee Francisco and Belinda Eberle made 33, 31, 30 and 29 points, respectively, for Alabang.

Canlubang assembled a 118 for fourth, Forest Hills ended up fifth with a 116 while Orchard came in next with 109, led by Rose Quilacio’s 39 points that netted her the individual crown.
