MANILA, Philippines - The United Football League Cup goes primetime with games aired live every Tuesday on AKTV on IBC-13 starting at 5 p.m.
Twenty teams, led by defending champion Air Force Phoenix, bannered by veterans Chieffy Caligdong, Ian Araneta and Yanti Barsales, are seeing action in the country’s premier football tournament.
In the quarterfinals in November, AKTV on IBC-13 will broadcast two live games every Tuesday and Thursday.
“We are proud to bring UFL action to primetime, which we think is the best time for Filipinos to watch football,” said Sports5 Sports manager Vitto Lazatin.
Replays of the games can also be seen on HYPER, the 24/7 sports channel on cable.
For Filipinos in the US, Guam, Middle East and Europe, catch the games exclusively on AksyonTV International.
“At the end of the day, we want more sports fans to appreciate the beauty of football especially since we have more teams that are part of the league. The UFL is the league that we can call our own,” he added.
Last year’s runner-up Loyola Meralco Sparks will be bannered by Phil and James Younghusband along with Byeong Yeol Jeong, Ref Cuaresma and Anto Gonzales.
Newly crowned league champion Global FC retained the strong lineup that propelled them to the championship last June.
