MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Swimming League, the national sports association for swimming under the Federation of Sports Schools Associations of the Philippines (FESSAP), has appointed Philippine University Games Corp. president and founder Roger Banzuela as PSL director for Region 6.

PSL president Susan Papa announced the appointment during the Western Visayas Private School Associations (WVPRISAA) swimming seminar held Sept. 27-28 at John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University, Iloilo City.

Edgar Galeno, PSL technical head for swimming, conducted the seminar for coaches, teachers and officials from Bacolod, Antique, Capiz, Aklan and Iloilo.

Banzuela, who is also the executive director of Western Visayan PRISAA, said the Unigames to be held in Bacolod Oct. 26, will be supported by the PSL, which will train Unigames swimming officials.

“We would like to see swimmers that are products of Unigames to qualify for the 2013 Summer Universiade in Kazan, Russia,” added Banzuela.

Banzuela invited Papa and DPS CEO/president Nikki Coseteng to attend the Unigames opening.
