AMA Titans reach Final 4

MANILA, Philippines - Coach Mark Herrera’s rookie-laden AMA Titans crushed New Era College, 69-53, and advanced to the NAASCU Final 4 for the first time in six years.

The team, composed of 16 rookies and two holdovers, include Russel Quiambao, Raymart Matias, Kenneth Ballesteros, Von Gile Kim Villena, Miguel Magpantay, Marc Puspos, Rizalde Angeles, Jason Jordan, Archie Bansil, Michael Santos, Michael Tobias and Paul Jerome Carpio.

The AMA Titans, who last won the NAASCU championships in 2006, captured the Seaoil Elite elementary division last summer also under Herrera, who is on his rookie year as head of basketball operations of the school.

Herrera is also coach of the 13-under national youth team which is seeing action in Guam in November.

Assistant coaches are Eugene Bautista, Edwin Ancheta and former varsity player Sudan Daniel.
