Leading karters face off for title
MANILA, Philippines - The country’s leading karters clash in a crucial faceoff today in the championship leg of the Coca-Cola Karting Super Series at the Clark International Speedway in Pampanga.
Luigi Lachica of One Racing, Tai Zulberti and Gabe Cabrera of City Kart are tipped to lead the title chase in their respective divisions.
With points doubled for this leg, a down-to-the-wire finish is expected in the event sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines and sponsored by Coca-Cola, Yokohama Tires, Motorstar and Aeromed.
Lachica leads the pack in the Formula Cadet Novice division with 372 points with Francis Tanlu of AUTS Racing pooling 359 points followed by Sean Draeco McLelland (255), Jacob Ang (251) and EJ Coseteng (243) of Eagle Cement, Mikey Jordan and Bianca Bustamante of Industria Racing.
Zulberti paces the Formula Cadet Expert division with 407 points with Dylan Arambulo of Fern-C Racing in second with 377 points followed by AT Tuason of TRS-Castrol Racing Kids (366), Jacob Chamness of City Kart (253) and Wils Casequin (232).
Cabrera, with 425 points, expects a neck-and-neck showdown with Flynn Jackes of TRS-Castrol Racing Kids (417) for the Mini-ROK title with Xedrei Daquigan, Tyger Espino, Liam Edward Sacal and Arambulo also joining the title hunt.
Other fancied bets are Carl Luig of AUTS Racing and Jaz Monzones of Natmo Asia-GP1 Racing.
Luig (395 points) guns for the Formula SL Novice crown against Raymond Cudala of Fern-C Racing (377), AUTS Racing teammate Brian Thorp (322), Bjonar Eikevik of City Kart (227) and Mary Allison Julian of One Racing (173).
Monzones, who amassed 431 points, needs the crucial win to capture the Formula SL Expert crown against Yvana Carangan of AUTS Racing (387) and Wayne Darvin of One Racing (322).
