- The Philippine Star

MANILA,Philipines - The Philta-Palawan Pawnshop Regional Age-Group Championships presented by Babolat holds its third leg starting today with another huge field expected to see action at La Carlota Tennis Club in Negros Occidental, Bacolod.

Stefan Suarez, who swept two titles in last week’s second leg at Center Court Tennis Club in Bacolod City, is expected to lead the cast again in the four-day tournament, part of Philta’s 15-stage nationwide talent search sponsored by Palawan Pawnshop through COO Bobby Castro and Technosports president Guillermo Nocom.

Also expected to compete are the other leg winners, including Keanna Flores, Godfrey Seno and Kristin Salimbangon of Cebu, Karl Baran of PTA Carlota City, Ceazar Fernando of PTA Bacolod, Jean Herra Sunio of Iloilo La Paz Tennis Club and Toni Rose Raymundo of PTA Carlota.

“It’s time for our young players from Negros Occidental to display their talent. We hope to discover more players who will be trained for future international tournaments,” said Philta regional vice-president and Palawan Pawnshop COO Castro.

Events on tap are the 10-under unisex and the boys’ and girls’ 12-under, 14-under, 16-under and 18-under categories.

“We hope to produce players like Jeson Patrombon and Francis Casey Alcantara, now the country’s leading players who are products of Philta’s grassroots development program,” said Philta president Rep. Edwin Olivarez.
