Superbikes, scooters, underbone racing up

MANILA, Philippines -  The country’s leading two-wheel racers resume their title hunt in the fifth round of the Bridgestone Philippine Superbikes Championships, the 2012 Philippine Scooter Racing Championships and the 2012 Philippine Underbone King Championships on Sunday at the Batangas Racing Circuit in Rosario, Batangas.

Frontrunning Raniel Resuello of Kawasaki Racing Team-Castrol-Motolite goes for a win to virtually seal the Bridgestone Philippine Superbikes Championships crown in the event sanctioned by Superbikes Racing Association (SBRA) with Bridgestone as the official Superbikes tires.

Arlan de la Cruz of JVT Racing seeks his second straight win as he tries to boost his chances against current leader and teammate Miko Erich Montano in the Philippine Scooter Racing Championships while Anthony Roman hopes to bounce back in the Philippine Underbone King Championships sanctioned by the Underbone and Scooters Racing Association (USRA) and supported by FDR, the official tires.

Resuello has won three of the last four legs for 97 points with Anthony Roman in second with 78 points followed by Marvin Mangulabnan (76), Toti Alberto (73) of Ducati-Access Plus and John Defensor (68).

De la Cruz topped the last leg via photo-finish to hike his total to 88 points, just six points behind Montano in the premier 180cc Open Scooters class.

Roman posted a 10-point lead in the Underbone King division with 89 points against Mangulabnan’s 79. points.
