Arellano U wards off Ateneo, bags third win in Martin Cup
MANILA, Philippines - Arellano University held off Ateneo, 85-82, to post its third straight win in the 10th Fr. Martin Division 2 Cup basketball tournament at the TIP gym in Quiapo yesterday.
Al Ho canned in two pressure-packed charities in the closing seconds to secure the victory for the Chiefs, who also drew 21 points from Dionce Holts as they remained unscathed in Group B.
Technological Institute of the Philippines, meanwhile, repelled Angeles University Foundation, 77-65.
The Engineers, led by Jeffrey Yanes’ 18 points, rode on a big third quarter run to beat the AUF side for a 2-3 card in Group A.
In the junior division, Chiang Kai Shek-A (3-0) crushed San Sebastian College, 75-36, while San Benildo (3-1) whipped CKSC-B, 72-56, to show the way in Group A.
