Cyna ties Ababa; Agojo makes move

- The Philippine Star

HONG KONG – Cyna Rodriguez birdied No. 18 to salvage a one-over 72 and tie a faltering Sarah Ababa at the helm even as Jayvie Agojo moved within one with a solid 69 in the second round of the Hong Kong Ladies Amateur Open at the Discovery Bay Golf Club here yesterday.

Rodriguez hit three birdies but fumbled with four bogeys in another windy day at the Diamond and Jade courses although her 72 proved enough to gain her a piece of the lead at 140 as Ababa stumbled with a three over 74.

After turning in an awesome five-under 66 Wednesday, Ababa went awful with bogeys on Nos. 9, 13 and 17 without a birdie to show, setting up a wide open battle for the crown in today’s final round of the 54-hole championship.

Agojo made sure to get into the mix, shooting one of the day’s two best scores of two-under 69 and closing in on her ICTSI-Phl teammates at 141 in a tie with local bet Michelle Cheung, who made a 70.
