Marikina dad hails Marist FC run drive

MANILA, Philippines - The Midget A team of Marist Football Club (MFC) racked up four straight victories in impressive fashions recently to show the way in the Rizal Football Association tournament. 

The Marist Golden Bears blanked the Hedcen side, 3-0, routed La Salle, 3-1, routed San Beda, 4-0, then edged Xavier, 1-0. 

“This is a classic case of triumph over adversity. These kids are excelling despite being flood victims of the recent habagat. They epitomize the resiliency of Marikenyos,” said Marikina Mayor Del De Guzman.

The Golden Bears leaned on their relentless offense and crippling defense to dominate the opposition with striker Mikheil Legarde leading the attack with a total of seven goals.

Kristian Cordero backed him up with three goals, while Japheth Lico scored a goal against Xavier.

The team’s goalkeeper is Joshua Gatchalian, who has foiled countless stabs of frustrated opponents.

De Guzman also congratulated MFC head coach Frank Muescan and his coaching staff Sol Valerio, Justin Depano and Paul Talavera a job well done.
