PMMS rips PWU in ISAA caging
MANILA, Philippines - Philippine Merchant Marine School trounced Philippine Women’s University, 78-38, to post its second straight win in the fourth Interscholastic Athletic Association basketball tournament last Thursday.
Dhon Reverente scored 19 points, Elmar Moradas added 13 markers while two others posted double-digit scores for the Mariners who paced the early going of the cagefest backed by Molten and Mikasa of Sonia Trading, Globe and Abot Kaya Pinoy.
Defending champion Technological Institute of the Philippines defeated Manila Tytana Colleges, 93-41, to bounce back from last week’s 62-69 loss to PMMS.
Mark Faurillo shot 18 points for the Engineers, who shared fourth place with St. Dominic College of Asia.
Meanwhile, last year’s runner-up La Consolacion College-Manila demolished St. Dominic, 52-44, to join idle Feati University at second with 1-0 cards.
Josue Quintal fired 18 points for the Blue Royals.
PWU and Manila Tytana both dropped to 0-2.
Meanwhile, action resumes today at the TIP gym in Manila with a three-game bill starting at 8 a.m.
