NU slips past SSC on Porter's heroics

MANILA, Philippines - Mark Porter completed a three-point play in the closing seconds as National U repulsed San Sebastian-A, 76-75, in seniors play in the 10th Fr. Martin Division 2 Cup basketball tournament at the San Beda gym in Mendiola last Sunday.

Porter took charge for the Bulldogs in the last 24.7 seconds, scoring on a crucial three-point play to lift the Bulldogs to victory.

Chiang Kai Shek-A, meanwhile, drew 21 points from Jae Keenan Yap as it demolished St. Joseph-Bulacan, 115-60, in the junior division.

Porter’s endgame heroics came after Gio Vergara put SSC ahead with a triple in the last 1:07, giving the Bulldogs their third straight win in Group A.

Porter wound up with 19 points.  

 The Dragons-A, meanwhile, posted their second straight victory in Group B.

Jaemark Perez scored 23 points for the Stags, who fell to 2-1.
