STI scuttles NEU in NAASCU

MANILA, Philippines - STI College rode on a big second quarter run to blast New Era University, 74-65, in the 12th NAASCU men’s basketball tournament at Lumera Towers in Legarda, Manila recently.

The Olympians blitzed the NEU cagers with 28 second quarter points while holding their rivals to just 12 marker en route to victory, their second in three games.

Maclean Sabellina and Cedric Abalaza finished with 12 points each while Abe Chavez chipped in 11 markers for the Olympians.

Meanwhile, Dexter Rosales dished out a double-double game of 14 points and 10 assists as he powered Our Lady of Fatima University to a 77-71 victory over AMA University in the other seniors game.

Benjie Jimenez led the Phoenix with 15 points while Carlito Cubo and Michael Banaria combined for 24 points for the Phoenix, who matched the Olympians’ 2-1 slate.

The Hunters and the Titans both fell to 1-2.
