MANILA, Philippines - Reggienal Morido dished out a double-double job of 19 points and 11 rebounds as unbeaten National University stormed past University of the East, 78-59, to grab the solo lead in UAAP Season 75 juniors basketball at the Filoil Arena yesterday.

Morido fired 11 points to spark a 19-7 second-quarter blast that ripped the game apart, 35-23, as the defending champion Bullpups coasted to their fifth straight victory, a full game ahead of idle Far Eastern-Diliman (4-0).

Raphael Atangan added 14 points, six rebounds and four assists while Ralph Busa made 12 markers and five assists for NU, which dealt the Junior Warriors their fifth consecutive setback.

De La Salle-Zobel and University of Santo Tomas picked up their third triumph in five outings at the expense of Adamson, 78-69, and Ateneo, 83-77, respectively.

Renz Subido shot 24 markers to go with seven boards, six assists and two steals for the Junior Archers. His fourth trey restored a fresh 70-63 upperhand after AdU (1-4) got to within four after falling behind by 20.

Meanwhile, UAAP badminton action gets going today at the Rizal Memorial Badminton Hall with Ateneo and UE kicking off their title-retention bids in the men’s and ladies divisions, respectively.
